1.1.Requirements

There are system requirements in order to install and setup Ivy School theme and its components properly. Make sure that you are running the latest version of WordPress, PHP version 7.0 or higher and MySQL version 5.7 or higher. We also recommend the following PHP configuration limits:

  • upload_max_filesize = 32M
  • post_max_size = 32M
  • max_execution_time = 300
  • max_input_time = 300
  • memory_limit = 256M

Please contact your server provider to verify your current PHP limits and have them set it up again if needed.

Note: Once you successfully install and activate Ivy School theme, Ivy School Dashboard will be added to your WordPress menu. You can verify those requirements under Ivy School > System Status

1.2.What’s Included

After purchasing Ivy School theme on themeforest with your Envato account, go to your Download page. You can choose to download Ivy School theme only (Installable WordPress file only) or the entire Ivy School theme package which contains the following files:

  • Ivy School theme: An installable WordPress theme zip file.
  • Documentation: A link to this documentation.

3.INSTALLATION

You can install Ivy School theme via 2 ways: Via WordPress or via FTP

3.1.Installation via WordPress

Follow these steps below to install Ivy School theme via WordPress:

Step 1. Visit Dashboard > Appearance > Themes > Add New.

Step 2. Click Upload Theme.

Step 3. Browse ivy-school.zip file on your computer and click Install Now.

Step 4. Activate Ivy School theme.

Step 5. Install and activate Thim Core plugin of Ivy School that required for importing demo data.

3.2.Install theme via FTP

Follow these steps below to install Ivy School theme via FTP:

Step 1. Login your FTP account via FTP software to access your host web server.

Step 2. Extract ivy-school.zip file.

Step 3. Upload the extracted folder ivy-school to wp-content/themes folder.

Step 4. Activate Ivy School theme in Dashboard > Appearance > Themes.

Step 5. Enable Thim Core to activate the core of Ivy School and start importing demo data process.

3.3.Install plugins and import demo

After the theme successfully installed and activated, you will see the Ivy School theme dashboard with our welcome message. Click ‘Next step’ and follow the instructions to set up your site:

Step 1. Name your website and set the description.

Step 2. Log into your Envato account to be able to download the required plugins for the theme. You must not skip this step

Step 3. Install and activate required and recommended plugins for the theme.

There will be times that some of the plugins fail to install due to internet loss and you will see the error message ‘You can try again later’. Simply choose the plugins and click install and activate again

Step 4. Choose a demo and import into your site

You can also import any specific pages from the demo. Please go to our support forum and we will send you the file of those pages and the guide of how to import.

4.CUSTOMIZATION

You are able to customize your website in Dashboard > Appearance > Customize

4.1.Customize Settings

This section will guide you how to customize parts of Ivy School

4.1.1.General

This is for customizing Logo, Page Layouts, Styling, Typography and Extra Features.

Logo: Change Logo / Sticky Logo / Logo Width / Site Icon for Site

Layouts: customizing Site Layouts, Archive Page Layouts, Single Page Layouts, and Page Layouts

Styling: customizing Primary Color, Secondary Primary color, Background type, Background color, Box Layouts Box Shadow.

Typography: customizing Body Font, Headings Font and Heading.

Extra Features: customizing Loading Icon and enable/disable extra features: RTL support, Smooth Scrolling, Open Graph Meta tags, Back to Top, Google Theme, and Preload.

4.1.2.Header

This is for customizing Layouts, Top Bar, Main menu, Sub Menu and Sticky Menu.

Layouts: customizing Header Layouts, Background Color, Header Position, Header Padding and Heading Size.

Top Bar: customizing Top bar Typography, Top bar Height, Background Color and Size.

Main menu: customizing Fonts and Text Color Hover.

Sub Menu: customizing Background Color, Text Color and Text Hover Color.

Sticky Menu: customizing Header Padding, Style, Background Color, text Color and Text Hover Color.

4.1.3.Page Title

This is for customizing Page Title settings, Title settings and Page Breadcrumb settings

4.1.4.Blog

This is for customizing Amount Member Per Page, Main Content Title and Description

This is for customizing Menus. There is a required menus: Primary menu. You can add your own menus.

4.1.12.Widgets

This is for customizing Widgets areas including Top Bar, Right Menu, Footer Top and Footer Slidebar.

4.2.Page Settings

Ivy School theme allows to customize a single Post or Page.
When using Ivy School, you will see extra settings ‘Display settings’ on your ‘Screen Options’

By enabling ‘Display settings’, you will see new settings Featured Title Area and Layout in your Posts and Pages.


5.UPDATE THEME

You can update Ivy School theme via 2 ways: via Thim Core and via FTP.

5.1.Update via Thim Core

Thim Core plugin allows to update theme without resetting your settings and customization. However, you should always backup your files and databases before updating.

Follow these steps below to update Ivy School theme via Thim Core:

Step 1 – Visit Ivy School > Dashboard and login with your Envato account.

Step 2 – Click Update now.

5.2.Update via FTP

Follow these steps below to update theme via FTP:

Step 1. Log into your Envato account on themeforest. In your Download page, find Ivy School theme and choose the Installable WordPress Theme.

Step 2. Login your FTP account via FTP software to access your host web server. Navigate to wp-content/themes folder to backup your current ivy-school folder if needed. The contents on your site will not be lost but if you have modified the code then the changes will be lost. You have to modify them again after updating.

Step 3. Extract ivy-school.zip that you downloaded from themeforest

Step 4. Upload new theme folder ivy-school to wp-content/theme to override the existing files.

How to get license key of included premium plugins (SiteOrigin Page Builder and Revolution Slider)?

You are able to use included premium plugins such as SiteOrigin Page Builder and Revolution Slider for free when you purchase our themes on ThemeForest. You don’t have to buy your own license to use these plugins.

As a policy from the plugin’s author, you will not get updates directly from them. But you will always get the latest version of SiteOrigin Page Builder and Revolution Slider when we update the theme. We ensure that they are always compatible with our theme.

Will customization be lost if I update the theme?

No, your customization in Appearance > Customize will not be lost when you update the theme. Only the code modifications in the original theme files will be lost and that’s why you should deploy in child-theme.

Customization cannot be saved?

When you make changes in Appearance > Customize setting but the changes cannot be saved, there are some common reasons:

  • Server error – “500 Internal Server”: Read this to know about the error and how to fix it.
  • Users of server (e.g Apache, Nginx) cannot write file: Let chmod file style.css and config.less (all in the theme directory) be 777.
  • Your PHP version is outdated: update PHP version 7.0 or higher.

When purchasing our themes, you will receive free 6-month support service for problems regarding the theme. Once your free support service expires, you can renew your support service to 12 months. 8.EDIT WITH PAGE BUILDER

8.1.Elementor

8.1.1.Top Bar
There are two sections on the top bar: left top bar and right top bar.

To edit those widgets, you can go to your Dashboard => Appearance => Widgets => “Top bar – left” and “Top bar – right”

This is our default text of text widget on the left top bar:

On the right top bar has navigation menu widget and text widgets which have been added the shortcodes.

If you can’t see search icon and login popup on the right top bar, you can go to Dashboard => AE  Templates => Copy the shorcodes. Then you go to Dashboard => Appearance => Widgets => Top bar – right => Edit text widgets => Paste the shortcodes which you copied before.

If you don’t see the Register option on your Login Popup. The reason is you didn’t enable the register option on your website.

To enable it, you need to go to your Dashboard => Settings => General => General Settings => Membership => enable it.

  • To change the background color and height  for the top bar, you need to go to your Dashboard => Appearance => Customize => Header => Top bar, then change the background color.
  • To change the font size and color of the texts on the top bar, you need to go to your Dashboard => Appearance => Customize => Header => Top bar => , then change the font size and color.
8.1.2.Logo & Main Menu

To change the logo, you can go to your Dashboard => Appearance => Customize => General => Logo, then select your logo.

To change the main menu, please go to your Dashboard => Appearance => Menus, select the Main Menu, then edit it.

To change the background color for main menu, you need to edit it in Dashboard => Appearance => Customize => Header => Layouts. = > Background Color

To change the font for main menu, you need to edit it in Dashboard => Appearance => Customize => Header => Main Menu.

8.1.3.Slider Revolution

To edit the texts, animations, layout of the slide on the homepage, access your Dashboard => Slider Revolution, choose your slide then edit it.

8.1.4.Homepage
To edit blocks on the homepage, please go to Homepage => Edit With Elementor, click on the block which you want to edit, and edit it on the Elementor editing panel.
8.1.4.1.Subcribe Here
To show subcribe here section, you need to edit homepage with Elementor. Then paste shortcode into shortcode widget.

To see the shortcode, you go to your Dashboard => Easy Forms => Opt-in Forms => Edit form => Copy the shortcode.

8.1.4.2.Course Collection

To edit the Course Collection section, you can edit the homepage with Elementor then edit the Course Collections widget.

8.1.4.3.New Events

To edit the Popular Courses section, you can edit the homepage then edit the widget List Events.

And if you don’t see your events, please try changing event category and event status

8.1.4.4.Brands
To edit Brands section, you can edit the homepage with Elementor => Navigation => Brands widget.
8.1.4.5.Call To Action
To edit Call To Action section, you can edit the homepage with Elementor. Then edit the Call To Action widget.

8.1.4.6.Icon Box and Twitter

To edit the icon boxes and Twitter above footer, you need go your Dashboard => AE Templates => All AE Templates => Edit “footer bottom” with Elementor

If you don’t see Icon Box and Twitter after import demo. You can go your Dashboard => AE Templates => All AE Templates => Copy shortcode of “footer bottom”.

Then you go to your Dashboard => Appearance => Widgets => Footer top => Edit “text” widget => Paste the shortcode which you copied above.

8.2.WPBakery Page builder

8.2.1.Top Bar
To edit top bar, you go to you Dashboard => Appearance => Widgets => Edit “Top Bar – Left” and “Top Bar – Right”.

With Top Bar – Right, you can edit it with WPBakery page builder.

8.2.2.Right Menu
To edit right menu, you go to your Dashboard => Appearance => Widgets => Right menu.
8.2.3.Home Page
To edit the blocks on the homepage, please go to Dashboard -> Pages -> All Pages => Edit “Home” page.

In WPBakery, there are two sections that can create/edit a page: Backend / Frontend.

To show subcribe here section, you need to edit homepage with WPBakery. Then paste shortcode into Text Block widget.
