1.INTRODUCTION

We would like to thank you for choosing Eduma. Built compatibly with the latest version of WordPress and page builder plugins like Elementor, Visual Composer or Site Origin. Eduma promises to give you awesome experiences in creating your own education websites.

1.1.Requirements

There are system requirements in order to install and setup the Eduma theme and its components properly. Make sure that you are running the latest version of WordPressPHP version 7.0 or higher and MySQL version 5.7 or higher. We also recommend the following PHP configuration limits:

Recommended hosting configuration

  • vCPU: 3
  • Memory (RAM): 3 GB
  • SSD Storage: 60 GB

Recommended PHP configuration limits

  • upload_max_filesize = 32M
  • post_max_size = 32M
  • max_execution_time = 300
  • max_input_time = 300
  • memory_limit = 256M

Please contact your service provider to verify your current PHP limits and have them set it up again if needed.

Note: Once you successfully install and activate the Eduma theme, Eduma Dashboard will be added to your WordPress menu. You can verify those requirements under Eduma> System Status 

1.2.What’s Included

After purchasing Eduma theme on themeforest.net with your Envato account, go to your Download page. You can choose to download Eduma theme only (Installable WordPress Theme) or the entire Eduma theme package which contains the following files:

  • Eduma theme: An Installable WordPress Theme zip file.
  • Eduma child-theme: A child-theme zip file and a readme.txt note about the child-theme.
  • Documentation: A link to this documentation.
  • Licensing.

2.INSTALLATION

You can install Eduma theme via 2 ways: Via WordPress or via FTP.

2.1.Via WordPress

Follow these steps below to install the Eduma theme via WordPress:

Step 1. Visit Dashboard > Appearance > Themes > Add New.

Step 2. Click Upload Theme.

Step 3. Browse the eduma.zip file (not the theme package zip file) on your computer and click Install Now.

Step 4. Activate Eduma theme.

Step 5. Enable Thim Core to activate the core of Eduma and start importing the demo data process.

*NOTE: One possible problem when importing Demo is that the theme is missing the style.css style sheet.

2.2.Via FTP

Follow these steps below to install Eduma theme via FTP:

Step 1. Login your FTP account via FTP software to access your host web server.

Step 2. Extract eduma.zip file.

Step 3. Upload the extracted folder eduma to the wp-content/themes folder.

Step 4. Activate Eduma theme in Dashboard > Appearance > Themes.

Step 5. Enable Thim Core to activate the core of Eduma and start importing the demo data process.

3.GETTING STARTED

Once you successfully install and activate Eduma theme, Eduma Dashboard will be added to your WordPress menu.

Now you can get started to set up your site with Eduma. You will walk through the following steps:

  • Name your website and site description
  • Install and activate required and recommended plugins

  • Sign in your Envato account to get updates

3.1.Import Demo

Thim Core Demo Importer

Thim Core is a required plugin for the Eduma theme. This plugin is a demo importer that imports all posts/pages, sample sliders, widgets, customization, and more.

Follow these steps below to import demo via Thim Core:

Step 1 – Visit Dashboard > Eduma > Import Demo.

Step 2 – Hover on the demo you want and click Install

Step 3 – Select what type of content you want to import and click Import.

The importing process may take up to 5 minutes.

Note:

  • If you want to build an offline course sale website you can use the following demos: Demo Kid Art – Offline, Demo Kindergarten – Offline.
  • On each website, you can only use one demo.

3.2.Import a specific page and blocks

  • You can import a specific page (like: home page, about us, FAQs…) and blocks.
Step 1 – Edit page with Elementor page builder.

Step 2 – Click “Thim Elementor Kit”

Step 3 – Click “Insert” a page or a block.

3.3.Child Theme

Follow the steps below to enter Kids Topics:

Step 1 – Go to Dashboard> Eduma> Child Themes
Step 2 – Click Install / Activate

4.CUSTOMIZE

You can customize your website in Dashboard > Appearance > Customize.
This section will guide you over all the customization part for Eduma.

4.1.General

4.1.1.Logo
  • You can select the logo, site icon, and logo width.

  • Logo: When you select Logo Image, it will displays here.

  • The sticky logo will be displayed in the sticky menu. (You can see how to enable the sticky menu in 4.2.4)

  • Site Icons are what you see in browser tabs, bookmark bars, and WordPress mobile apps. Site Icons should be square and at least 512 × 512 pixels.

  • Default image: if you choose the default image, the logo will show the imported image of the Eduma theme.

4.1.2.Layouts

Select site layout, page layout, size body, switch layout style, background switch layout, and padding switch layout.

  • Site Layout: Content Wide: The content will be displayed wide.

  • Site Layout: Content Boxed: The content will only be displayed in the box.

  • Page Layouts: Sidebar on the left, sidebar on the right, and no sidebar.

If you choose the sidebar on left, the page will display the sidebar on left.

  • Size body: Normal or Wide.

 

4.1.3.Page Title Layout

  • There are 3 options for Page Title Layout.

When you select option 1, the page title will display:

For this option, you can customize Text Align Title and Line Title.

For this option, you can customize the Image’s Vertical Orientation (px), Padding Top Content, and Background gradient.

  • Padding: you can set the padding for Top Desktop, Bottom Desktop, Top Mobile, and Bottom Mobile.

4.1.4.Styling

Styling allows you to set up the color skin on your website. You can change the primary and secondary colors, set the link color and set up the buttons. 

If you select the Default option for the color skin, you will have the original color options that go with the theme. But if you select the Custom color option you will be able to set your own color scheme. You can change:
Primary color – it will change the color of some major elements, and highlights of the opened page in the menu:

4.1.5.Social Share
  • Social Share allows you to show/hide social shares and arrange them.
4.1.6.Typography

This is the customization for Typography.

4.1.7.Extra Features

  • Extra Features allow you to enable/disable auto-login, back to top, select preloading, etc.

4.1.8.Ultilities
  • Utilities allow you to add URLs to Register Redirect, Login Redirect, etc.
4.1.9.Sidebar

  • Sticky Sidebar: Allows you to enable/ disable the sticky sidebar.

 

4.1.10.Gutenberg Widget Editor

Enable Gutenberg widget editor: Gutenberg completely replaces the old Appearance > Widgets screen in the WordPress admin. The plugin no longer has an option for end-users to disable it, which was expected. The goal is to begin getting users accustomed to building their sidebars with blocks rather than traditional widgets.

 

4.2.Header

4.2.1.Layouts

Layouts allow you to select the layout, size, and position for the header.

  • Layout: Allows you to select header layout for the header on your site.

  • Size: Allows you to select the size layout for the header layout.

  • Position: Allows you to select the positioning layout for the header layout.

4.2.2.Toolbar

Toolbar allows you to show/hide the toolbar, configure font, and select color for the background, text, and link.

  • Show toolbar: Allows you to enable or disable Toolbar.

  • Font Size: Allows you to select a font size for the toolbar.
  • Font Weight: Allows you to select a font weight for the toolbar.
  • Background Color: This allows you to choose a background color for the widget on the toolbar.
  • Text Color: This allows you to choose a color for the widget on the toolbar.
  • Link Color: This allows you to choose a link color for the widget on the toolbar.
  • Link Hover Color: This allows you to choose a link hover color for the widget on the toolbar.
  • Enable border button: This allows you to choose a border color for the widget on the toolbar.
4.2.3.Main Menu

Main Menu allows you to configure font and select color for background color, text color, and text color hover.

4.2.4.Sticky Menu

Sticky Menu allows you to enable/disable the sticky menu and select a color for the sticky menu.

Sticky Menu allows configuring a sticky menu and editing the colored background, colored text, and colored text on hover.

  • Sticky on scroll: When the option is enabled, the menu remains visible as the visitor scrolls up and down a web page.
  • Config sticky menu: When you choose the config style as custom, below the settings will display more items’ background color, text color, and text color on hover for you to set as you want.

When you choose the config style as “the same with main menu”: Your menu will not change when you scroll down.

 

4.2.5.Sub Menu

Sub Menu allows you to select a color for the background, border, and text.

4.2.6.Mobile Menu

  • Mobile Menu allows you to select colors for the background, text, and configure the logo on mobile.

4.3.Blog

4.3.1.Blog Page

Blog Page allows you to select layout, the number of columns, use grid/list template, column grid, show/hide page titles, breadcrumbs, top image, and color of background, title, subtitle.

  • Layouts: There are 3 types of layout display.

The first image below is when you choose the sidebar style displayed on the left:

Finally, you can choose to hide the sidebar.

  • Use Grid/List Template: If this option is enabled, your blog page will display a grid/list of templates.

  • Column Grid: Allows you to select  column grid.
  • Hidden Page Title: Allows you to hide or show the page title on the heading top.
  • Hidden Breadcrumb: Allows you to hide breadcrumbs on the page title.
  • Subheading: Allows you to set up subheadings.
  • Top Image: You can choose photos here.
  • Background color: Change the background color as you like.
  • Title color: You can change the title’s color as you want and below is the image when you choose the red color for your title.
  • Sub Title Color: You can change the sub title’s color as you want and below is the image when you choose the red color for your subtitle.
4.3.2.Archive Pages

Archive Pages allows select layout, the number of columns, use grid/list template, column grid, show/hide page titles, breadcrumbs, subheading, show description, excerpt length, top image, and color of background, title, and subtitle.

4.3.3.Singular Pages

  • Singular Page allows you to select a layout, color and top image, enable/disable breadcrumbs, and related posts.

The options are the same in the Archive Page’s Blog section.

  • Related Posts: Turn on to show related posts.

4.3.4.Meta Tags

  • Meta Tags allow you to show or hide year, author, date, category, comment number, and tag.

4.4.Course

4.4.1.Settings

Settings allow you to enable/disable login popup and course offline, and select price.

  • Enable Login popup: Enable login popup when taking this course with the user not logged in.

  • Enable Course Offline: If your course is offline, then you need to add a shortcode of Contact form 7 into the ID of Contact Form 7 Shortcode.
  • Course Price Color: Select the price’s color.

 

4.4.2.Archive Page

Archive Page allows you to select a layout, style and color, show/hide title, breadcrumb, description, popular course, course filter, and sort.

  • Layout: There are 3 layout styles.

The sidebar is on the left:

  • Course List Layouts: Allow you to choose from pre-made layouts.

  • Hide Breadcrumbs: Hide breadcrumbs by enabling this option.

If you disable this option, breadcrumbs will still be visible:

  • Hide Title: Check this box to hide/show the title.

  • Sub Heading: Allows you to set up subtitles as you like.

  • Show Description: Display a description just below the blog’s title.

  • Show Popular Courses: Allows to display popular courses on the course archive page.
  • Excerpt Length: Course item description length (number of words).

  • Layout Grid/List Courses: Choose the default display layout when entering the course archive page.
  • Grid Columns: Select the number of course columns to display on the archive.

Below is an illustration of when you choose to display 3 columns:

  • Top Image: Select the heading background image you want.

  • Background Color: Change the heading background color here.
  • Title Color: You can change the color of the title at this option.
  • Sub Title Color: You can choose a color for the subtitle.
  • Display Course Filter: Enable the display of course filters here.

  • Display Course Sort: Choose to show sorted courses.
4.4.3.Single Page

Single Page allows you to select the style, layout, top image, color, and tab default, show/hide tab courses, and arrange them.

  • Course List Layouts: Allow you to choose from pre-made layouts.
  • Layout: Allows you to choose a layout to display for all single course pages.

  • Hide title: Check this box to hide/show the title.

  • Hide Breadcrumbs: Check this box to hide/show breadcrumbs.

  • Sub Heading: Allows you to set up subheadings.

  • Top image: Select the heading background image you want.

  • Background Color: If you do not use a background image, then you can use a background color for the page title on the heading top.
  • Title color: Allows you to select a color to make text color for the title.
  • Sub Title Color: Allows you to select a color to make the subtitle color page title.
  • Sortable Tab Course: Click on eye icons to show or hide buttons. Use drag and drop to change the position of tabs.

Tabs will appear in the order you put them in the backend.

  • Select Tab Default: If a tab is selected, its content will be displayed first after the single course page loads.

For example, the tab selected is the review tab, which is what you see when the course single page loads.

 

 

4.4.4.Collection Pages

Collection Pages allow you to select a layout, top image, color, show/hide breadcrumbs, and titles.

For this page, you can make the same edit as the Course Archive Page above.

4.5.Portfolio

4.5.1.Archive Page

Archive Page allows you to select a layout, item size, top image, color show/hide breadcrumb, and title.

For this page, make the same edit as the Course Archive Page above.

4.5.2.Single Page

Single Page allows you to select a layout, top image, and color show/hide breadcrumb and title.

For this page, make the same edit as the Course Single Page above.

4.6.Team

  • Go to your Dashboard > Appearance > Customize > Team.
4.6.1.Archive Page

This allows you to select the layout, and upload the top image/ title, subtitle,etc. for the Our Team page (your site/our_team)

For this page, make the same edit as the Course Archive Page above.

4.6.2.Single Page

This allows you to select a layout, and upload the top image/ title, subtitle,… for the Single Our Team page.

For this page, make the same edit as the Course Single Page above.

4.7.Testimonials

This is customization for Testimonial pages

4.7.1.Archive Page

This is a select to  layout, upload the top image/ title, and subtitle, etc. for the Testimonials page (your site/testimonials)

For this page, make the same edit as the Course Archive Page above.

4.7.2.Single Page

Select a layout, upload top image/ title, subtitle,… for the Single Testimonials page.

For this page, make the same edit as the Course Single Page above.

4.9.Widgets

Your theme has 12 widget areas but this particular page does not display them.

You can navigate to other pages on your site while using Customizer to view and edit the widgets displayed on those pages.

To edit the complete widget, you can go to Dashboard => Appearance => Widgets: See detailed instructions here.

4.10.Menus

This panel is used for managing navigation menus for content you have already published on your site. You can create menus and add items for existing content such as pages, posts, categories, tags, formats, or custom links.

Menus can be displayed in locations defined by your theme or in widget areas by adding a “Navigation Menu” widget.

 

Here, you can choose this menu as the primary menu, by checking the “Primary Menu” option. In addition, “Menu Options” will automatically add new top-level pages to this menu.

For other menu types like About Course, Company, Links, Privacy, Recommend, Support,…
You also do the same with the “Main Menu” form.

Your theme can display menus in one location. Select which menu you would like to use.

5.WIDGETS

  • You can go to your Dashboard => Appearance => Widgets to add/edit widgets into sections, like: Course Sidebar, All Courses, Sidebar, Toolbar, Menu Right, Footer Top, Footer, Footer Bottom, Sidebar Shop, Sidebar Courses and Sidebar Events.
  • For example: If it has the shortcode like image below, you can go to Thim Elementor -> All Templates -> Edit the template has that shortcode with Elementor.

7.UPDATE THEME

You can update Eduma theme via 2 ways:  via Thim Core and via FTP.

7.1.Via Thim Core

Thim Core plugin allows to update theme without resetting your previous settings. However, you should always backup your files and databases before updating.

Follow these steps below to update Eduma theme via Thim Core:

Step 1 – Visit Eduma > Dashboard and login with your Envato account.

Step 2 – Click Update now.

7.2.Via FTP

Follow these steps below to update theme via FTP:

Step 1.  Login your Envato account. In Download tab, find Eduma and choose the Installable WordPress Theme (the WordPress file).

Step 2. Login your server and go to wp-content/themes folder to backup your eduma theme folder if needed. The contents on your site will not be lost but if you have modified the code then the changes will be lost. You have to reapply them again after updating.

Step 3. Extract eduma.zip that you downloaded from themeforest.net

Step 4. Upload new theme folder eduma to wp-content/theme to override the existing files.

8.Slider Revolution

  • Please go to Dashboard => Slider Revolution => Select edit at slider Home Page to edit the default demo slider.

9.EDIT WITH ELEMENTOR PAGE BUILDER

9.1.Mega Menu

Please install Thim Elementor Kit plugin.  Then, you can add/edit mega menu into the main menu. Please follow these steps:

Step 1 – Go to your Dashboard -> Thim Elementor -> Settings -> Modules -> Enable “Mega Menu”.

Step 2 – Go to Appearance -> Menus -> Thim Menu Settings -> Enable mega menu -> Save.

Step 3- Select Main Menu -> Select the item -> Click “Thim Mega Menu” -> Enable Mega Menu -> Click “Edit With Elementor”.

9.2.Home Page

  • To edit blocks on the homepage, please go to Homepage => Edit With Elementor, click the block you want to edit, and edit it on the Elementor editing panel.

9.4.Course

  • To edit the course elements such as Course overview, lessons, quizzes, … with Elementor, you need to enable Elementor’s editing permission.
  • Please go to Dashboard => Elementor => Settings => General => Enable in post types you want => Save changes.
